New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the southwest monsoon has regained momentum after a brief slowdown. The monsoon has now officially entered Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh, while weather experts expect it to advance into Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and other northern states over the next few days.

The latest forecast indicates widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning across several parts of the country, offering relief from the intense summer heat.

Monsoon Arrives in Mumbai, Heavy Rain Disrupts Daily Life

Mumbai witnessed widespread rainfall soon after the arrival of the monsoon. Heavy showers and strong winds caused waterlogging in several low-lying areas, uprooted trees, and damaged parked vehicles.

Traffic movement was affected in parts of the city, and some suburban train services experienced temporary disruptions due to adverse weather conditions. According to IMD, rainfall activity is likely to continue across Mumbai and surrounding coastal regions over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Monsoon Enters Madhya Pradesh After Delay

The southwest monsoon has also entered Madhya Pradesh, arriving around nine days later than its usual onset date.

Meteorologists expect the rain-bearing system to spread across the entire state within the next three to four days. Several districts have been placed under rain and thunderstorm alerts, with moderate to heavy rainfall likely in southern and central parts of the state.

While some districts continue to experience high temperatures, weather experts believe moisture from the Bay of Bengal will strengthen rainfall activity across the state during the coming days.

Weather to Change Across Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi

Weather conditions are expected to improve across Haryana, Punjab, and the Delhi-NCR region as the monsoon gradually advances northward.

Several districts have been placed under alerts for thunderstorms, gusty winds, and moderate rainfall over the next few days.

The IMD has also issued weather alerts for Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, where rainfall activity is expected to remain active.
